My Platform

Without a doubt, WUSA demands a profound shift in its course. As your representative, I pledge to introduce a comprehensive 5-year plan, designed to enact vital reforms and compel the organization to unwaveringly prioritize the mission of amplifying student voices

Launching investigation into the organization

A thorough internal review of the organization is imperative to identify and address gaps in corporate functions. WUSA currently struggles to provide services in a timely manner, evidenced by delayed reimbursements, sluggish inquiry responses, and a concerning lack of transparency with the student body. It is essential that we undertake a comprehensive review to rectify these shortcomings and ensure a more efficient and transparent operation

Getting The Bombshelter Pub Back

Restoring the iconic Bombshelter Pub is a paramount objective. This revered 40-year-old institution, unfortunately, closed its doors in 2018. My commitment is clear: I will mandate the reopening of this Waterloo establishment, introducing a fresh and dynamic business model. My goal is to ensure that students not only regain access but also experience a reimagined and vibrant social space, fostering a community where a good time is not just an option but a priority. Together, let's revive the spirit of the Bombshelter Pub and create lasting memories for the students of today and tomorrow

Getting WUSA much more involved with orientation

Recognizing the significant gap between WUSA and the student body, I am committed to bridging this divide by reforming our communication standards. The transformation begins with a pivotal focus on orientation, where WUSA will play a prominent role. Early engagement and proactive communication will be key components, ensuring students are acquainted with who we are from the outset. Additionally, by injecting an element of enjoyment into orientation activities, we aim to cultivate a sense of community right from the start. Through these strategic reforms, we aspire to create stronger connections, fostering a community where students feel informed, engaged, and a vital part of the WUSA experience.

Pushing the university to reverse policy on public information.

The decision by the University of Waterloo to restrict public access to class information is a misguided approach to ensuring safety. Students, who are essentially paying customers, should retain the right to make informed decisions about their classes, including the ability to choose professors. Making class information publicly accessible is essential for transparency and empowers students to utilize platforms like UW-Flow and other external professor rating applications

Independent HR

Presently, WUSA lacks an independent human resource department, resulting in the employment and compensation of its personnel being managed by the University of Waterloo—an institution we are tasked with holding accountable. I am committed to mandating the swift establishment of an in-house HR department, thereby gaining control over the recruitment and management of our own staff. This crucial step ensures greater autonomy and accountability within our organization.

Creating the Presidential Fund

Proposing a visionary approach to funding, I advocate for the establishment of a new discretionary fund under the purview of the president, exclusively designated for clubs and student-run events. This fund will be disbursed in full each semester, serving as a dynamic resource to bolster the financial backing of clubs and enhance student life activities. By streamlining administrative processes, cutting through bureaucratic red tape, and prioritizing accessibility, I am dedicated to ensuring that students have ample funding to dream big and turn their innovative ideas into reality. Together, let's cultivate an environment where the pursuit of ambitious initiatives is not hindered by financial constraints.

Student Senate Caucus

Establishing a robust and formalized partnership between the Office of the President and independently elected student senators is a key tenet of transparent and effective governance. Fostering a strengthened relationship aims to enhance communication within the Student Senate Caucus, thereby unifying the student body and ensuring that senators are well-informed. This initiative is rooted in the belief that a cohesive collaboration between the President's office and independent student senators is essential for responsive and accountable leadership. Through consistent and prominent communication channels, it aspires to create an environment where the concerns and perspectives of our diverse student community are not only heard but also actively addressed.

Pushing for a stronger provincial lobbying branch

Working with our external partners, such as OUSA, to put in place the development of a stronger organized provincial lobbying group. This strategic initiative aims to advocate for policy changes that directly enhance the well-being of students. By leveraging a registered lobbying branch, we can proactively take measures to endorse and support politicians who champion legislation favourable to the goals and interests of the student association.
